Re: [orca-list] shri~nking mp3s

Hi,
Sox works pretty well too, it is a command line utility. There is a link for installing the unstripped version of it on my blog in one of the "commanding the command line" articles.

is there an accessible way of shrinking mp3 files that is

i know sound converter can encode a cd but i have not yet done
this with mp3 files that have been just downloaded.
i tried sound converter on some downloaded files but although it
chose ogg as the converted format, the converted file sizes were
bigger for some reason and not smaller like i thought ogg files
were supposed to be.
is there something else i needed to change in sound converter to
be able to get smaller files?
whatever i use i need to be able to play the files on my
plextalk.
