[orca-list] Ot: Question for you Arch linux users

Hi,
My Arch isntallation is running fine and the sound is working but I am not able to run speakup.
in /etc/rc.conf under the deamons section I have put alsa and espeakup but no luck.
If I type
/etc/rc.d/espeakup start I am getting the following message:
Unable to open the softsynth device:
No such file or directory
Any ideas?
I installed espeakup and speakup through pacman and now using BRLTTy so no problems, but would like to get 
this working.
