First, I'm not Joanmarie Diggs but you jumped on the wrong thread to
bring this subject up.  Joanie did respond on the same thread where
that crazy suggestion was offered.  So read that entire thread (20
plus messages at last count) and then you'll know the position of the
team lead.  Not to wory!

Please, Please, don't panic! Orca's not going any place.  Well, I
should say, not going anywhere.  It's just going to grow and improve
with our contributions to improve the program.  People need to calm
down. 

Now concerning this other thread, OpenTTS did fork from Speech
Dispatcher for reasons expressed in the recent past.  Orca now
supports both of these speech systems so the user of Orca can choose
which system to use.  I think this is the best way so Orca isn't
forced to "take sides" on that debate.  Not sure where Gnome would
eventually go with the base dependency requirements or if it will remain an
optional user decision.
