One overall question I have here after this very long thread.  Whether
we step through gconf first and then onto gsettings or go strait
there, will there be an easy to migrate current user settings up to
the new format? Especially if we have to go through two conversions, I
would hate to have to go through and manually reconfigure Orca and my
custom settings twice.

My only complaint about these API type settings is I find them harder
to backup and restore.  This is my own personal perception though.
