Thanks for all the tips.

Eclipse is my favourite IDE and I use it in Windows all the time (mainly 
for Java developments) it is fully accessible with JAWS but sadly not 
with NVDA.
It will be good if it can be fully accessible with Orca but I appreciate 
that the developers have many more pressing issues in the next few months.

I have tried the speak indentation option with Orca and it works well; 
one useful feature of the dreaded other screen reader is that it only 
speaks indentation changes so for example if you have two lines with 3 
spaces indentations it will speak only the first one and thereafter when 
there is a change; you can force it to speak the indentation in any case 
by pressing the modifier with the Up or Down keys and indentation is 
announced but the line does not move.

My next step is to try the Python plugin for Eclipse and see how I can 
get on.
