yes, i ment no installer using orca. The debian install (i think) is
graphical, and it is good for people who don't like or know command line to
at least be able to install there system before learning.
But yes, grml is a good distribution! I've not managed to get gnome to
start, but the actual system seams to work.

Why do you need the sighted assistance to install debian? GRML as well
as installing GRML to HD can install plain debian, look at the
grml-debootstrap command http://grml.org/grml-debootstrap/ for details.
When you said there is no installer for debian with software speech, did
you mean no installer using orca.

the live cd will have a install icon on the desktop.
You could also install debian with sighted help, then do the following:
go into terminal
do:
sudo apt-get update
sudo aptitude update
sudo apt-get install gnome-orca.
this will find all packages, including espeak and festival.

Hi.
Good choise! Debian is better than ubuntu. Its much faster and
easier to use. At the moment, there is no debian install with
software speech as far as I know. But i'm working on a pure debian
live cd with only orca and espeak. This means that it won't be the
same as vinux, it will be a standard debian install with software
speech support.

Hi,
I am considering switching my netbook over to Debian Lenny. Does
anyone
know if it is possible to do an accessible install of Debian? I don't
have easy access to a braille display, so I will need to use software
speech.
I read somewhere that Orca doesn't get installed by default. Is there
any way of doing this as a blind person?
