possible, I don't remember having to use sinaptic or
update-manager...
I think the additional scripts were needed to upgrade from one major release
to another, and they can be executed from the command line. I might be wrong
though. Perhaps they've fixed this with recent versions.
Perhaps they have, I think I remember updating from fisty to hardy with
out too many problems using the standard dist-upgrade option and
adjusting my servers.., but I personally prefer debian, however, ubuntu
is a nice distro and I would use it if I had too for some reason. Maybe
you are right, but I don't remember using any special scripts or gui
tools for upgrade...
