Maybe it is just a bit of Yankee in me but I was thinking slash for
stroke, "line" for "underscore" "dash" for "hyphen" and probably most
important would be the different parenthetical charactors.  I am used
to "()" as being left and right parens, "[]" as left and right
brackets, and "{}" as left and right braces.  I do recall this can be
customized on an idividual base so haven't hammered on this too much.
Actually what I recall with Speech Dispatcher and maybe espeak, is
when you read a whole line, you hear some of the punctuations spoken
differently than when you read over a single char at a time.  This
might be a part of Orca but don't know for sure.  I don't notice that
difference when using gnome-speech however.

Also, is there a way to turn off automatic expansion of achronyms
completely? That has been a problem with so many software synths; they
want to imply a complete word for given achronyms and quite often,
those achronyms are referring to something else or nothing at all.  My
latest experience with this was IE becoming "for example.".

I'll have to dig up the message I saw a while back telling how to
change the dictionaries because I would be glad to customize those
pronunciations myself.  After all, someone else might want them spoken
differently than how I described above.  You do have a good snappy
synthesiser here.
