I don't know if there is a tutorial.
Alsa soupport softmixing through dmix plugin wich is active since 2.6.18 
kernel.
Oss apps should called with aoss to redirect these to alsa.
That's it.
I am not using a special setup. One thing wich is important:
Speech-dispatcher uses alsa for all supported synths.
So there is no need to use aoss.
I am using sbl on textconsole and orca under gnome through 
speech-dispatcher. I can play several sound at a time etc.
