Re: [orca-list] Evolution contacts not being spoken

Hi

Many thanks for your post. I've got to get a sighted person to double
check that my contacts are imported correctly but I'll keep an eye on
things.

Hello,
this seems odd, the only time I get headings spoken when in list view is
when there is no information in that column for the contact, eg.
somebody somebody somedomain com business phone home phone
business fax home fax mobile phone

would be the sort of output if only the name and email address was
filled in.

The patch which fixes this supposedly will be checked in the orca 2.22
branch and will be there for orca 2.22.3, should you not want to go to
trunk.

I think others have sometimes reported speaking of headings only in
lists before, I am wondering why that happens and if it is down to a
setting somewhere or how different distros may compile things.

Hi

I'm using Hardy but can't get contacts spoken. I think that the
suggestion was to select list view on the current view menu. All I'm
hearing is the headings and not the data held within.

I'll consider using the latest snapshot.

Hello,
I forgot to get back with something I found out regarding this. It seems
as if it is for view set to "Address cards", set it to list view and
orca 2.22.1 works fine.

I will have a go with trunk again, but I will need to get trunk set up
on this machine again as I had gone back to using the version provided
by my distro (2.22.1). Is there anything I should know about trunk
regarding dependencies. Also this time I am planning on making it
another version (using another prefix so I have the old version still
there), anything else I would need to do other than specify my
installation directory in the --prefix option to autogen.sh and also
making sure I use the correct orca when I start it? Particular things
which had come to mind was that orca has scripts in the python
site-packages directory, a different prefix might confuse things there.

Hi Michael:

Thanks for reporting this. Definitely looks like a bug. I just entered
a bug and checked in a patch to trunk:

    http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=533499

If you can try out trunk, please do and add a comment to the bug. If it
works fine for you, I can work on a patch for GNOME 2.22.3, which comes
out in a week and a half.

Hello,
Has anyone else noticed that evolution contacts are not being spoken by
orca (2.22.0 or 2.22.1) as you navigate the list of contacts? If so has
this already been submitted as a bug?
