It's an RFE, and is expected to come with the Dbus migration.

PS: My irc client of choice has been a little perl based console app
called sirc.


The value I see in going to Pidgin, which I have yet to do, is to be
able to monitor traffic in some channel whilst not focussed in Pidgin. I
presume Pidgin can do that. Certainly, I don't have that with sirc.
