Re: [orca-list] Orca with the Skype Public API

Hi All:

I see this argument as one that won't ever get resolved -- it's the same reason some people like GNOME and others like KDE. It's just personal preferences and what matches your needs best.

So, I see a few courses of action that might be more constructive:

1) People contribute their experiences on the VoIP applications that work for them, but try to resist denigrating the opinions of others.

2) If people want Skype to work on GNOME, lobby the Skype developers -- they are not going to monitor the orca-list to see what people think. ;-)

3) Wait until the AT-SPI/DBus work advances so that KDE/Qt can integrate better with the AT-SPI infrastructure.

Hi Janina,
Skype is not only available for windows, but also for Macs, Linux and palm computers. I'm not familiar with the chat programs that you have mentioned, but among the various voip programs that I've tested, Skype has produced by far the best audio quality of them all including excellent echo suppression, and you can conference up to 10 people and its completely free from computer to computer. On the windows side, Skype also supports video chats and the
latest version even includes hi definition video, but I can't see that
