Hi Janina,
Skype is not only available for windows, but also for Macs, Linux and palm
computers. I'm not familiar with the chat programs that you have mentioned,
but among the various voip programs that I've tested, Skype has produced by
far the best audio quality of them all including excellent echo suppression,
and you can conference up to 10 people and its completely free from computer
to computer. On the windows side, Skype also supports video chats and the
latest version even includes hi definition video, but I can't see that
(smile)..
