[orca-list] is firefox crashing orca/gnome

Hi folks,
 I preface this by saying that I've only been using linux for about ten hours.
I tried to go on line with firefox this evening. I've used firefox in
windows so i have some idea of what to expect.
I pressed f7 for carret brousing because I haven't figured out any
other way to read the screen.
But, as I arrow up and down in a page of text, the screen reader seems
to stop reading at certain points, possibly at the ends of paragraphs.
And, at a certain point, the thing locks up and I get no more speech.
I read a few days ago about espeak and audio port 19 having trouble.
Does any one know if they've worked this out?
Am i just a screwup?
