Re: [orca-list] Current Status of Braille Support

ldconfig solved that problem. Now when I run ./configure in the orca
directory it says "configure error: XML::Parser perl module required for
intltool." Where do I get that?

It seems that no configure options are necessary to include braille
support. Is this correct?

Thanks,
John

Sometimes its necessary to run ldconfig after installing shared
libraries, did you do this? If you are using Redhat, then it might have
been better just to install the brltty pre-compiled binaries. Out of
interest which shared object file could not be found? It might help find
the problem.

Thanks to all of you. I downloaded Orca, then installed Pyrex, then
rebuilt brltty. the command python -c "import brlapi" says it can't find
a shared object file, giving the name. Could there be a problem with the
path?

I got RHEL preloaded from Dell and I've put a lot of work into it. I
think I may just install the latest Gnome. I did this on another machine
years ago, but I can't remember the URL now.

Thanks,

Hi John,
I've just joined this list. Recently I got Redhat Enterprise Linux
with
Orca-1.0.0. I've been trying to download the latest stable release of
Orca because it may have better braille support, to say nothing of
access to more applications.
I believe that redhat enterprise linux has a pretty old version of the
gnome desktop. If you realy want to stick with redhat you would
probably get a much more up to date desktop by running the latest
fedora. Users are also having good success with the latest open solaris
and ubuntu distributions. You can find more useful information at:
live.gnome.org/Orca. We have quite a bit of info their on installing
and configuring.
Hope this helps.
Mike
