I would consider it a bug, but may be its not my area to talk as I
prefer not to have key echo anyway.
I would have thought this may be simple to resolve, orca knows when the
key is a command (as it does the command). The question is should orca
try to supress this when a command key is pressed, or should echo key
press be only when key is not a command key (only if key is not a
command will orca try to speak key press, opposed to trying to stop orca
speaking the key press if the key is a command key, subtle difference
but how would they compare for performance).

I'm sure running without key echo isn't terribly problematical--but
that's not a real answer.
I'm sorry I didn't catch this when you reported it, because I would
certainly want to support the notion that this isn't a bug.
Maybe the people who think it's not a bug will speak up? I must tell you
I'm rather stunned by what you said about this.

Yes, hence my initial suggestion, that they would be scilanced somehow

to be honest, it isn't too much of a problem to operate without keyecho,
but what you suggest would be the prefered/expected mode of operation.
I don't really know how much of an effort it would be to 'swallow' these
keys, so can't comment from that point of view.

That's outrageous. Keys used for review have nothing to do with input.
Echoing them makes using flat review hopelessly cumbersome. Is the
notion that somehow your brain isn't supposed to hear those chars while
you hear what you're reviewing? Most brains don't work that way, imho.
Mine doesn't.
Oh, it's a bug all right.
Do you mean to tell me that were I to enable echoing of function keys,
I'd hear "page up" and "page down" and "home" etc when using flat review
on the numeric keypad? Ridiculous and unusable.

Hi,
I have reported this before, but it wasnt seen as a bug by some other
members, I was told to simply disable the key echo.

I am hearing my key presses echo'd while attempting to read the
screen. In other words, if I hold down CapsLock and press 'k' to
hear the current word, or 'i' to hear the current line, i first hear
"k" followed by current word, or "i" followed by current line.
This would be a bug, imho, but I don't see a bug for it. I can
attest it happens for one other Fedora user. Is it just us?
