Thanks Hermann! I suspect this is a problem with eSpeak itself -- it
doesn't seem to want to give us callbacks for text it wants to throw on
the floor. I'm BCC'ing Gilles Casse, who did the original work (thanks
Gilles) to get eSpeak hooked up to gnome-speech.
Gilles, do you have an idea of what might be happening here?
