Actually, things seem to have changed in that regard and not necessarily
for the better.  In Edgy the notification area seemed to be a collection
of unlabeled graphics.  But at least you could use flat review to get at
those individual graphics.  In Feisty, the notification area seems to be
a single unit and I cannot seem to flat review among its individual
components.
