Get speech going or get sighted assistance. Get a gnome terminal and sudo
-i for a command and key in the password you used to sign into your normal
account. That'll get you root# access. Examine /etc/apt/sources.list and
where you find lines that have deb or deb-src on them that start with a
"#" remove that "#" sign those were commented lines unless you've already
done this and save the file and get back to root prompt. Then type
aptitude update for a command and wait until your root prompt returns.
Then type aptitude dist-upgrade for a command and wait. It will ask you
if you want to continue and your response is yes at this point if you've
never done this before. Wait, it will take a while. When the root#
prompt returns, type halt -p and your system will shut down. Leave it off
for a minute then start it up again. You've just learned how to update
your system using aptitude and gnome-terminal.
