I don't think it is the plugin in this case. Firefox said what do you
want to do with this file, and gave me the option to save the file or
open it (it was just the .ram file which is text linking to the stream)
and I selected open with and chose the realplay binary I normally would
use if I had the .ram file on my computer. Also I have tried Will's
suggestion (replacing the normal realplayer binary with a script to look
at the environment settings, and firefox launched that.
