Re: [orca-list] An Orca problem.

Hi Darragh,

(Darragh kindly let me have access to his machine to have a
look around. Here's some observations. I'm cc:'ing the list
because there are a lot more people here who are more familiar
that i am with Linux and might be able to suggest things to try).

Are you running a GNOME 2.16 system by any chance?
I noticed that you have:

/usr/libexec/evolution-data-server-1.8

running and I have:

/usr/lib/evolution/evolution-data-server-1.10

There are several other slightly different versions of applications
(gconfd for example).

Using GNOME 2.16 shouldn't be a problem though.

I also noticed that I have several applications running (owned by
my) that you don't have running. I've weeded out differences like you're using
espeak and I'm using Cepstral, and I'm running these extra ones
that you aren't:

x-session-manager
/usr/lib/control-center/gnome-settings-daemon
/bin/sh -c /usr/bin/esd -terminate -nobeeps -as 1 -spawnfd 27
/usr/bin/esd -terminate -nobeeps -as 1 -spawnfd 27
update-notifier --sm-config-prefix /update-notifier-Pf2RTC/ --sm-client-id 117f000101000117699698800000049510004 --screen 0
gnome-pty-helper

And you are running these extra ones that I'm not:

/usr/bin/gnome-session
/usr/libexec/gnome-settings-daemon
eggcups --sm-client-id default4
bluetooth-applet
/usr/bin/python -tt /usr/bin/puplet
nm-applet --sm-disable
beagled /usr/lib/beagle/BeagleDaemon.exe --autostarted --bg
/usr/libexec/wnck-applet --oaf-activate-iid=OAFIID:GNOME_Wncklet_Factory --oaf-ior-fd=41
pam-panel-icon --sm-client-id default0
/usr/libexec/gam_server
/usr/libexec/clock-applet --oaf-activate-iid=OAFIID:GNOME_ClockApplet_Factory --oaf-ior-fd=38 /usr/libexec/notification-area-applet --oaf-activate-iid=OAFIID:GNOME_NotificationAreaApplet_Factory --oaf-ior-fd=39
./escd --key_Inserted="/usr/bin/esc" --on_Signal="/usr/bin/esc"

I wonder whether there is anything suspect there...

A lot of my running applications have been started with an
--sm-client-id command line paramater, eg:
--sm-client-id 117f000101000117699698800000049510005

I don't know if that makes a difference. I'm guessing this is something
new (session management?) in the latest version of metacity.

So, I'm stumped but can anybody else on the list suggest anything for Darragh
to try?

Thanks.
