on http://orbit-resource.sourceforge.net you can find a link to the GNOME
Debugging Framework
(http://cvs.gnome.org/lxr/source/gnome-debug/event-service) which had some
kind of implementation (I never tried it myself) but they came to the same
conclusion as Sebastian:
