I did so.

Unfortunately it did not work.

The details:

I removed the hold and finally installed

ii  modemmanager                          
0.4+git.20110124t203624.00b6cce-2ubuntu3~pkt1 D-Bus service for managing 
modems

Right ?

What debug information do you need ?

I copied /usr/sbin/modem-manager and  
/usr/lib/ModemManager/libmm-plugin-sierra.so from your first working 
package to be able to revert. Should that be sufficient ?
