Hi,
After 2 days, and eating the brain out of 4,5 really helpful guys on suse irc channel, I think I traced down my problem to the hp-wmi module. Even after modprobe, the hp-wmi module does not show up in lsmod queries ... I don't know if this is relevant for the other guys or not. But after going through my machine, I found out that the drivers are correctly loaded on my machine and they are correct. The system should work but for some reason, the problem is with the hp-wmi module. I don't think this is an issue with the NetworkManager program. Sorry to bother you guys with this.
Thanks for your help. Muchas Gracias !

Hi Mr. Walker,
Finally ! I meet someone who is facing the same problem as I am. Lucky for me but unlucky for you ! Hmmm, I have no idea either. Even the guys who work with this stuff don't have good clues ... I don't know, if someone can tell me if I can get this to work without the NetworkManager with the traditional ifup/down commands ... but I am such a newbie ... :(
Uhm, have you tried a live CD of e.g. Ubuntu/Linux Mint to see if it is a configuration problem or if it could be a hardware problem as well.
and the strange thing ! some how it used to work on it's own !!! :P

No Wireless Connection
I have the same problem as Junaid Naseer. My laptop and desktop are running Linux, Ubuntu 8.04 cannot connect to the internet wirelessly.
Ubuntu 8.04 is 3 years old. I would suggest installing the latest version first.
And to both of you: do not top post, and do not quote more than you refer to.
