change route of an active connection

Hi,

i have a question about the route configuration inside the networkmanager.
i know it's possible to request the current route for a device if it has 
an active connection.
furthermore i know that ip4routes can be specified before a connection 
is activated.

So my question is, it is possible to set specific routes not only for a 
connection configuration but also either for an active connection or for 
the device which supply the active connection? If there is now such 
possibility is it planed to integrate such functionality in
future version of the networkmanager?
