Keeping VPN settings

I always keep my /home directory on a separate partition for upgrade
purposes. Lately, I have noticed that certain gnome applets, etc are
not available due to old settings under .gconf.
The only think I really care abou tare the 100+ vpnc conections I have.
What is the proper way to back them up and restore after I upgrade
gnome?
