Re: fam and nautilus (again)

ok,

well, what is the solution then? i guess i have some options.

1) live with it
2) wait until it gets resolved
3) i can turn off famd

well, 1) isn't the best option since i REALLY don't like this bug.
if it is going to get resolved soon (i don't think it is because according
to alex fam has asked people to back off this bug.
so, i guess the answer is 3) and i guess i could have done this all along.
i guess i would have to live without fam's services which probably means
file views won't be updated as fast.

isn't there some easy local fix? i was reading that the problem might be
the .recently-used file. is there some way to monkey with that file so
that files originating from the cdrom don't get added to it? what about
making .recently-used not writable? that might be the same as turning fam
off as no file could use it.

I don't know. I am sure that the developers have bigger fish to fry (this
is no doubt not the biggest concern) so I appreciate all that's been done
on this.

maybe it will be fixed in gnome-2.6.

anyways, any suggestions would still be appreciated.

thanks, amp
