installed the "greybird" and selected it, and now GTK3 menus have
borders (and are shaded to differentiate them from man app windows).
Scroll bars and gutters are also shaded. Life is good.

Also, there's bug 749323
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=749323) with a request
similar to your other query about distinction between the textview and
the middle sections. As I've said, that was kind of the design, but in
3.15.x I may look at improving this with some new custom drawing fun.
