This is one of the reasons why the developers decided to quickly release a followup stable 4.8.1.3, just a few days after this release went out. ÂPlease upgrade and your problem will be gone.

My colleague has the same problem [1]:

I have now done some tests.
I usually use F3 to look at archives - that works

If I just press Enter, the Red box appears, but only for tar type archives.

xx.diff.gz opens directly (one file)
xx.xz Âopens directly (one file)

but for multifile archives
xx.tgz requires a second step
xx.tar.bz2 - 2 steps
xx.tar.xz - 2 steps

xx.7z opens directory
