You decide, as head of the GUADEC planning committee.
Well, in this case we need to make sure that something like a GUADEC
planning committee actually exists. ;)
It does now :)
In all honesty, we're past the point of no return for next year's
GUADEC. It doesn't need to be a very heavy conference - we have a
freedom to experiment with a GUADEC lite if needs be. But if we want a
good GUADEC, we're already behind what is a reasonable schedule, and
deciding on a theme for the conference is something we can do now, and
modify if we realise that there's a ground-swell behind something else.
I'm just a bit concerned about proposals being unnoticed today and then
reopen in the near future when they get noticed more publicly. The
solution for this will be Planet GNOME by now and the GUADEC site once
we have it (I'm going to ping Jeff).
Nothing we do will be set in stone. But organisational decisions that
are madebased on the reality of our current situation fall to the local
organisers - and that means, primarily, yourself and Jordi.
We should have regular conference calls if we can, though.
I can draft a call for papers, and ask you for comments. How does that
work for you?
This works perfect if the "you" is used in the plural form. :)
Grand.
In terms of keynote organisation, Anne Oestergaard has helped Tim in the
past, and has generally been heavily involved in GUADEC organisation.
She's not (yet) on the list of GUADEC organisers. Anne - are you
interested in helping again this year? If so, perhaps we can avoid some
of the problems we had last year by talking a bit more openly now?
Cheers,
Dave.
