Excellent point.
As a matter of fact, the fact that such conferences are being held in Europe
(read: outside the US) could be leveraged politically in order to exert
pressure on the authorities. If people start to feel left out because What
they want they cannot get due to the laws of their home country, they should
start being grudgy pretty soon.
The more important GUADEC becomes, the more pressure and attention this will
develop against such regulations as the DMCA.
