Hi there,
If what you are trying to do is just install the libraries to make your own
programs, then you may find an easier way than installing from source.
For example on Debian linux (or a Debian-based distro like Ubuntu) you can
run:
apt-get install libgtkmm-dev
...and this will install everything you need (just remember to put the
include directory on your compiler include path when making your programs)
