The problem is that it's public API change, and the team is
being very careful about it. This discussion has been going on
for a long time.
Well, it wouldnât break anything, since it can be implemented
purely as an extension that does not affect behaviour in legacy
code. And there doesnât seem to be a lot of lively discussion in
Bugzilla â mostly, it is just taking a very long time for anyone
to get around to it. (Iâm not whining, just observing. Apparently
noone feels a pressing need for this.)
