there are a couple people around here that might be able to help you with
gtk-perl, but my suggestion is to find/use a binary package for your distro if
at all possible. gtk-perl has some really odd dependancies mostly related to
pod doc generation.

if you're trying to install it b/c you need it for something then you'll have
to keep looking. if you're going to be developing new code working with gtk+
and perl then you want to use gtk2-perl, http://gtk2-perl.sourceforge.net/.

beyond that, if i had to guess based on the first error message you got i
would wonder if the gnome development libraries were installed, of which i
assume that gnome-config is part.
