The base problem is that github changed their setup so that connections on http are redirected to https. That's not a problem for browsers, but curl won't follow the redirect and so you get junk. I've fixed that, but you need to get a new copy of gtk-osx-build-setup.sh (https://github.com/jralls/gtk-osx-build/raw/master/gtk-osx-build-setup.sh) and run it. After that, everything should work as before.
You can delete ~/cvs/gnome2 and /opt/gnome2. They're from the default, for-Linux, jhbuild setup. The gtk-osx .jhbuildrc overides those paths with ~/gtk and does a lot of setup necessary to get everything working on OSX.
