I'm not opposed to a forum provided that it a) has a full threaded
structure like e-mail has, and b) has a good gateway for e-mail or nntp.
In general I mean.
How about a forum-ish web interface on top of the mailing lists
we already have? Would give us the best of both worlds (more
manageable for the slightly more technical user and more
approachable for everyone else).
