7bit ASCII != iso-8859-1

for example, áéíóúñ are 8bit ASCII (not 7bit ASCII) but those are inside
iso-8859-1 because the "es" locale uses ISO-8859-1 charset and we have
those characters.

So I don't think you have any problem with those characters.
