The nearest I can think of in a short timeframe (days or weeks) is
to reparent another X client entirely -- you'd write a separate
program, and have it contained in your gtk application.
Maybe you could make an Xaw bonobo component and talk t it
with corba.
But I think the result would be a UI nightmare (you use *which* mouse
button to scroll here?)
