That appears to have had no effect. Here's how I configured things:
goffice: ./configure --with-config-backend=keyfile
gnumeric: ./configure
my cgi script generates the following error:

It is not really Gnumeric that is looking for that socket but goffice
(aka libgoffice). If you use keyfiles rather than gconf it should not
look for such a socket.
