I think what I've got in mind is fairly extensible.  The nutshell
preview is for something along the lines of Evolution's "filter" dialog.
There's a list of one or more selection criteria on the top half, and a
list of styles on the bottom half.  Each conditional formatting rule can
be named or anonymous.  The selection criteria can be ANY-OF (aka
logical-or) or ALL-OF (aka logical-and).  The styles would be from your
4 bullet items above (colors, font, borders, etc).

Does anyone think I'm going in the right direction?
