I suspect that the right-click copy-paste doesn't work because Abiword
does not support tables just yet.

Try highlighting and then using the middle mouse button to paste on
Abiword.  If you have a 2-button mouse, you emulate the middle button by
pressing both buttons simultaneously.

This should paste your Gnumeric table as tab-sepparated columns in
Abiword.

This might not solve your problem, but until Abiword gets tables (it's in
the works) I doubt you can get better.
