I have never used this tool. A quick test suggests it is the same
as copying the source region and pasting the formats into the
destination. Is that correct ?
Yes, that's exactly what it does.
Don't know if you noticed, but the paintbrush tool in Excel has
got two modes:
o single-click the button and it will copy the formats into the
next cell you click in.
o double-click the button and it will carry on doing this until
you tell it to stop by clicking the button again (much more
useful like this, IMHO).
