I must say that since you add timer for GK registration, my GM never 
loose connection on wake up. For me problem disappear. I'm not 
registring to ILS so I can't speak about.

Concerning wake up of laptop, generally a script is used on wake up to 
do some stuff (reloading modules, setting clock,restarting hotplug,...) 
Don't now if you can find here a way to register to ILS
