for the bug that you discovered : 
- Go in the prefs, select different OSS devices for input and output
- Go to the druid, both are set to the input device

You were right, I was defaulting to the same GConf key!
I didn't notice it because with ALSA, "input-only" devices are not
listed in the output devices, so it was impossible for the bug to appear
as my USB device never appears as possible output device.

Anyway, there are more and more little details like this on in GM that
need to be fixed. I have the feeling there are more than before. Perhaps
I changed too many things in GM 1.00, or perhaps I'm becoming a bad
maintainer :(


Your bug is fixed in CVS (I will regenerate a snapshot before leaving
tonight)
