What it does now is that it
- probes for monitors
- checks if it has seen that configuration before
- if it has, use whatever was configured last
- if not, it picks some reasonable default.
What it *should* do when it hasn't seen the configuration before, is
cycle between "laptop only", "external only", "both".
I would like if most people never have to see the configuration
capplet at all. This is reasonable because
- Essentially all screens these days have only one useful
resolution
- Rotation is fairly rare
This means the only interesting configuration is which screens to use.
