I started this thread trying to reach some consensus about the header
design. The tabs themselves can be edited easily through the web
interface so they are not problematic. Did I delete the Contact tab? We
will put it back right now. Did I recommend to delete the Ablout GNOME
tab? We'll leave it where it is now.

So, we are going to use the same tabs as in gnome.org, so we can close
this discussion now keeping the same global navigation, which is
something we have agreed that it's important.

When the GUADEC site is on it's way I will discuss further why I think
it's not appropriate to have "about" and "contact" in the nav bar of a
metawebsite comprising lots of subsites with own abouts and contacts. I
will do it picking the current use cases and structure and suggesting
something better - IMO. 

In the meantime, you can consider why out there in the WWW the average
simple website tends to have About and Contact in the nav bar, while
portals and big websites containing several subsites tend to have these
elements out of the nav bar, somewhere prominent in the general homepage
(sometimes) and in the homepage footer (always).

In the meantime we will need to deal with a double "About" and "Contact"
reference in the GUADEC homepage (one referring to GNOME, another to
GUADEC). This is not something special of GUADEC:

- subsites like foundation.gnome.org have the same problem: two contacts
and two abouts. Not optimal in my opinion.

- subsites like art.gnome.org don't have own about or contact. Not
optimal in my opinion.

- subsites like Evolution or Epiphany eliminate the duplicity getting
rid of the GNOME bar. Not optimal either in my opinion.


In any case, I strongly prefer to offer a non-optimal interface to users
but stick to the current plan at http://live.gnome.org/GnomeWeb avoiding
to upset you. When I have the time I will try to evolve/improve the plan
following your recommended steps.
