Although I am not over-joyed with many things about the current version
of Gnome, and there is some truth to what you say, I must say that I
have received many very helpful responses on this list. I consider it a
failure that the only way I was able to figure out how to shutdown my
computer from the GUI was by reading a response on this list. On the
other hand, I also don't consider the latest version of Gnome to be
complete. Some of my complaints I expect will be handled as the product
matures.

Hi,
Quite a few people have mentioned the same thing on this mailing list,
including myself. You'll get told:
1) to keep trying till you change your mind
2) that if you don't change your mind it's because you're old
3) that other people's grandmothers, who know no better anyhow, are
able to use it
4) if you don't like something you can always make a hotkey to do it
I really chuckled about your item (4). That feels so true. "No minimize
or maximize button for you...... but there is this magic key sequence....."
What you can do is to support the people who are listening.

Have not tried Mint..... Many people seem to like it.
