My $0.03 (i.e. 3¢). I don't have a need for persistent workspaces but
naming ones would be helpful. For example I have currently 2 workspaces
- one for libgee and one for vala. Each contains a gedit with several
tabs opened, terminal and browser. The gedit have files in the same
language opened in both workspaces.

Distinguishing them visually quickly is very hard so I would welcome the labeling.

DND is very important feature IMHO and I complained (read annoyed everyone)
already about it.

I don't think it would be nice for ad-hoc workspaces (combination of
both). Possibly default name should be empty string?

I'm not UI designer but it would seems to be more natural for me between
<<Activities>> and <<Current Program>>.
