This is a major design issue that needs to be addressed for 3.0.
Otherwise I do not think that this great project will gain widespread
adoption. User testing in this "focus group" is telling you it is
needed. I believe that it would be unwise to ignore it.
I think that the list has asked for something to allow switching between
tasks without having to go to the overview many times. Every time it's
been rejected. The overview is simply too slow for switching between
windows , no matter how cool it looks.
I currently have 14 different windows open in 3 workspaces- that's how I
work. Hunting between them in the overview is time consuming and it
breaks my workflow, especially when switching back and forth between the
same 3 windows for one task (which I do all the time). If the tasks are
open windows of the same application, I cant tell the difference between
them. For example, I have 4 terminals open and 2 firefox windows- I
can't tell what is what without hovering over each one, which is very
time consuming.

Hi!
Just to sum this topic up: I discussed this with owen on IRC and he
doesn't think it is a good idea and as such I won't waste my time on
it.
Would you please explain the reasoning behind the rejection of this
idea?
I feel that rejecting ideas without reasoning is not at all
constructive, and only hinders innovation.
I understand that Owen must have his reasons, but I think that these
reasons should be made available to all proponents of this idea.
Thanks
