~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions
(or formally, $XDG_DATA_HOME/gnome-shell/extensions)
If it does not exist, create it.
You don't need rebuilding or reinstalling, just restarting the shell
(alt-f2 r), as extensions are not part of the build tree.
